How getting a colour analysis changes your mindset

Updated: May 18

A colour analysis not only gets you wearing clothing, make-up and accessories in colours that make you look healthy with a glow, but believe it or not, it changes your mind-set when you’re shopping. You learn to scan for items that fit in your colour palette and happily disregard those that don’t. This new mindset will save time and money, and bring liberation to your clothing, make-up and accessory purchases, I assure you.

You learn to just dismiss anything, be it shoes, hand bags, clothing etc in colours that are not in your palette, and just home in on items that are in your palette. You realise that items in colours that don’t harmonise with you, are not worth the time of day.

I guarantee when you really embrace your colour palette, there will be shops you walk into and virtually walk straight out of because the colour ways in that shop just don’t fit your palette. And you know what? You do it happily and enthusiastically. You develop this newfound attitude where you think, ‘great, one less shop I have to traipse through’.

I shopped with a friend Nina the other day who was desperate for a dress. We found a gorgeous forest green dress. Nina is a deep autumn and this dress was just the perfect style and the perfect colour and fit. She declared, “This dress is so good I’m going to buy two of them.”. As always, this dress happened to be sold out in the forest green colour, other than the one she had tried on … everywhere! The dress came in another colour which was in a very cool patterned winter palette. Nina said to me, “I’m just gonna buy this anyway. I don’t care I love the style”. I replied, “Wait, just try it on first!” She tried it on and as I suspected would happen, it didn’t even look like a nice dress anymore. The colour didn’t suit her so the entire style of the dress was lost. She conceded to the fact that it wasn’t worth buying. She did eventually track down the dress in her forest green colour and bought another. Yes, she has two!

It was a great lesson for Nina. A great dress in a colour that does not suit, is no longer a great dress. It’s that simple. And I know there will be hundreds that will argue, ‘ Oh you’re limiting yourself, your free expression blah blah blah…’ Well be that as it may, you are going to look a whole lot better in a colour that suits you, trust me. Those items in your wardrobe that you never wear, I guarantee, one of the reasons is, the colours don’t suit you. As well, wouldn’t it be great if everything in your wardrobe just matched? Imagine the outfit combos?! Colour makes a difference believe me!

So in short, your mindset becomes attuned to your colour palette and you can home in on items that suit you and blissfully discount items that don’t. What does this do? It saves time and it saves money. It also makes things like packing easier with a harmonising colour palette. Oh and hey, you look pretty healthy and awesome too!
